# Tennis data, with explicit context

> Historical singles and doubles through one canonical API.

Read matches, players, tournament editions, points and statistics through a
single Data for Tennis contract. Keep the release, quality and metric definitions
alongside every result so another researcher can reproduce your query.

The current service is an authenticated beta available at
`https://api.datafortennis.com`. Use your authorized Bearer credential over
normal HTTPS. The service is reached through Cloudflare; the API origin and
database are private. A live RapidAPI listing is not available yet.

The historical research release is a selected singles and doubles corpus.
Read its coverage and manifest before choosing a cohort. Its release name does
not establish the latest date available in every data family.

## What you can read

| Surface | Resources |
| --- | --- |
| Catalogue | Datasets, releases, recurring tournaments, editions, draws and players |
| Match facts | Singles and doubles sides, results, set scores and calendar dates |
| Point facts | Ordered points, serving side, score states and available outcomes |
| Statistics | Match/set metrics with units and available ratio operands |
| Enrichment | Rally categories, reconstructed lengths, stroke summaries and clocks |
| Research | Player match history, exact-player/team H2H and corpus player-season aggregates |
| Reproducibility | Snapshot cursors, bounded change feeds and private export jobs |

Coverage varies by release, discipline, season and family. Accepted point rows
are not a certificate of complete point replay. Stroke summaries are not shot
sequences. Relative elapsed time is not an observed UTC instant.

## Start with a release

List the releases available to your credential, choose one, then use its ID in
every data query. Discover a match from the catalogue and read its points,
statistics and coverage at that snapshot. The API version and data release are
independent.

This documentation describes the implemented contract, not a complete world
calendar, real-time feed or verified official career record. Read the release
manifest and the coverage resources before comparing cohorts.
